Janet Echelman

Date
5 August 2011

What you see before you isn’t a still for the next CGI-filled Hollywood blockbuster, but in fact a real life, “living, breathing” sculpture from Janet Echelmean. The materials Janet chooses to work with are also a little unbelievable – I’m not sure too many of us would plump for using atomized water particles, or fishing net to carry out our practice. These guys are on display at some impressive public spaces including San Francisco’s national airport, and they even installed one for the Vancouver Winter Olympics back in 2010. All in all, a very special body of work.
