Skateboards, puppies and backwards caps fill the illustrations of Jean-Philipe Calver

Date

If you used to pore over the Bart Simpson’s Guide to Life — what I still believe is one of the most inspirational publications ever created — then you’ll probably be into the backwards cap-riddled work of Jean-Philipe Calver. Skateboards, spray paint, comic books and friends are some of the grin-enducing themes present in this colourful menagerie of congenial cheekiness. While many illustrators make portfolios that make you want to go and pet baby deer and whistle to the birds, Calver’s kind of makes you want to skive off work and go buy a milkshake.
