Photography: Joel Devlin's pitch perfect portraits of London's bus drivers

Date
10 January 2014

In the pell-mell of metropolitan life, the humble bus driver is often an overlooked extra in our busy lives; a travelcard flash and then they’re gone. Photographer Joel Devlin has addressed this oversight with his excellent series of portraits focussing on these under-appreciated men and women who keep the city moving 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Working with Go Ahead London he spent four days at the Camberwell bus depot, photographing in situ the surpassingly diverse people who can be found behind the perspex. So when you’re stumbling towards the night bus stairs this weekend, spare a thought for the driver and maybe give them a smile.
