John Divola

Date
11 January 2011

In 1995, John Divola – a ‘contemporary visual artist’ who explores landscape by ‘looking for the edge between the abstract and the specific’ – began to document the dogs that chased his car while he worked in the Southern Californian desert. Divola has since gone on to compile a series of images that deal, he says, with ‘love and hate, joy and fear, the heroic and the idiotic.’ The artist sheds further light on the project here – we highly recommend a read.
