Expressive lines and fierce female faces in John Elisle's ace illustration work

Date

Texas-raised, Brooklyn-based illustrator John Elisle’s work manages to take a very 80s, New Romanticish vibe and place it firmly in the here and now. With expressive line work and bright neons, his editorial illustration has been picked up by clients including Nobrow Press, The New York Times and Opening Ceremony. We adore his Tumblr, too, which shows a very human side to his fierce female faces, like in this post where he “sketch[ed] a face and then want[ed] to try their make up IRL.” A brilliant line in T-shirts, too.
