Super young designer Josh Reim presents his SS16 lookbook, with a cameo by his dog

Montreal-based fashion designer Josh Reim has been making waves since he released his first collection in 2013, in the same summer as he graduated from high school. It’s partly because he was only 15 years old at the time, sewing and constructing garments while most of us were getting drunk and hanging out down the skatepark, and partly because his carefree attitude is a breath of fresh air in a fashion industry where tradition weighs heavy on many designers.

Josh’s SS16 collection disregards the concept of gendered clothing completely, instead introducing a system of poppers, layers and reversibles which can be adapted according to the wearer’s preferences. “A pair of seersucker trousers with a multicolour hand-woven yarn drawstring are interchangeable between the sexes,” his press explains, “going from a skirt to a pair of shorts using ties and hidden snaps, Josh Reim’s limited edition collection of unisex pieces transcend the typically rigid boundaries of fashion and explore a new territory all of his own.” The lookbook is the cherry on the cake – shot by longtime friend and collaborator Jetro Emilcar and modelled by Josh’s girlfriend Sophie, with a sweet cameo by his dog in a photograph or two.
