Wonderful work from LA artist Joshua Nathanson who, with his own brand of happy paradox, consistently surprises in the nicest possible way. With – what appears to be – an annual departure from one painting medium to another, I’d like to point you in the direction of 2010 and Nathanson’s acrylic year. The baffling topography of these paintings is as if they’ve been flattened between glass like art specimens or, as I initially thought, like he’s taken a cross-section of a dog that just ate Lego.
