Lazerides

Date

Even when I edited the art section for Dazed and Confused magazine, I found it difficult to spend too much time in galleries. The culture of art seems to have shifted, but the gallery experience hasn’t really changed at all. Maybe that’s why my favorite gallery is the Lazerides space on Greek Street…Gone is the bored, fidgeting invigilator sitting in a corner on what appears to be the most uncomfortable chair in the world – instead you have the privilege of encountering the gallery curator – sitting behind a desk as you walk in. You get to talk with someone directly involved with the work on show – it’s more like a French Salon than a contemporary art gallery.
