Leigh Mulley

I have a massive soft spot for any artistic endeavour that glorifies places, objects, people, and their preoccupations that might seem a bit mundane to an outsider. Add in a healthy mix of nostalgia and I’m even more smitten, so Folkestone-based painter Leigh Mulley – take a bow. These hyper-realistic paintings of childhood staples like sweets, cakes and seaside holiday ephemera are really well-executed, but more than that they evoke a whole host of memories that make me feel warm, fuzzy and proud of my background.
