Letman and Gijs Frieling for Dries Van Noten: Fall 2012 Menswear

Date
23 January 2012

Aiming for “psychedelic elegance”, the Van Noten team drew on the countercultural legacy of Frank Zappa and the enduring dapper aesthetic of Oscar Wilde. We think they’ve pulled it off with a catwalk collaboration involving one of our favorite typographers Letman and Dutch artist Gijs Frieling, who together painted a 100ft long mural whilst a flurry of well-dressed lads strutted they’re stuff in the foreground. The artists themselves designed textiles for the collection; trim, tailored button-ups and trench-coats featuring their eye-catching typography and surreal, acid-bright illustrations. Truly inspiring.
