Before Michael Moore and Louis Theroux became the international figureheads of pithy documentary film-making, Nick Broomfield was paving the way in his affable British way, bumbling about the place clutching a sound boom and politely asking questions that nobody wanted to answer. Serial killers, white supremacists and slain rappers have all been subjected to Nick’s critical eye over the years, and now he’s turning his camera on the poster girl of right-wing U.S politics, Sarah Palin. Initially welcomed into the homes of Palin’s family and friends, things gradually descend into chaos as Nick’s journalistic motives are revealed.
