Loris and Livia take juicing to another level with their beautiful Lemon Toys

Date
10 January 2013

Between them, Swiss designers Loris Jaccard and Livia Lauber have worked with an awe-inspiring list of fashion and furniture clients including Martino Gamper, Tom Dixon, Established&Sons and Michael Kors, Nina Ricci and Prada. It’s testament to their remarkable skill that they’ve managed to keep such high-profile clients and collaborators over the years, particularly given their distinctly unorthodox approach to their practice.

To understand their unusual approach to creating functional products you need only look at their Lemon Toys, a selection of hand-crafted lemon reamers created from vintage and reclaimed balustrades for DesignMarketo. Manually manipulated by a team of skilled carvers, these oversize juicers are objects of incredible natural beauty as well as being completely functional and utterly bizarre. It’s not the first time a juicer has been reimagined by talented minds (think Philippe Starck) but it’s undoubtedly the best!
