Luca Sage's Street Fight photographs are at once violent and beautiful
You can’t fault the photographer that goes to great lengths to capture their subject. Whether armed with a telephoto lens in the middle of some horrific conflict or integrating themselves for months at a time in a foreign community, their commitment to capturing an incredible image is admirable – allowing those of us with less adventurous dispositions to enjoy a side of the world we may never actually see with our own eyes.
Luca Sage is one such photographer, roaming the world in search of iconic images. His travels across Africa have lead to some extraordinary photographs documenting local communities’ near religious commitment to sport. Whether it’s football training in the Ivory Coast or boxing in Ghana, Luca’s subjects display a side of themselves that only an outsider couple capture; a pride in their team and their sport which they want to share with the outside world. Even if the intimidatingly macho subject isn’t your thing, you can’t help but appreciate the sheer skill on show in Luca’s work.
