Lufthansa travels to Japan to find the meaning of home for new film

Heimweh is an old German word for homesickness, longing for a place to call home. It is also the inspiration behind a new short film commissioned by German airline Lufthansa, exploring belonging and identity in a hyper-connected world as part of their new campaign.

Volcano of Our Childhood tells the emotional, personal story of Danish-Japanese entrepreneurs Kiyoshi and Satoru, the Inoue brothers. We follow the siblings to Japan where they visit Sakurijama, a volcano which featured in the bedtime stories their late father told them as young children. Finding a greater connection to their parents’ identity, the brothers team up with French artist Julien Colombier to launch a ceramics line using volcanic ash.
