Poised for greatness: Gustl the dog as photographed by proud owner Lukas Wassmann
Lukas Wassmann’s photographs have a wit to them that seems effortless; framing otherwise drab or ignored moments, high fashion profiles and commercial collaborations with the same offbeat humour. We previously featured his profile on Lora Lamm for Apartamento and a project for Freitag in which two men go in search of fabric; here we present his ongoing project photographing his dog Gustl vom Allgäuer Tor, a German hunting dog.
Gustl is incredibly poised, and holds the highest qualification for a hunting dog, the VGP exam. He poses for fashion shoots, as a mobile office, with model planes, hack-saws and over the shoulders of his proud owner. Lukas’ photographs of Gustl are surreal and at times uncomfortable, with Gustl enjoying everything from crystal crowns through to his latest catch.
