Date

You know when you make a telescope out of a rolled-up phone bill and look through it to find a whole different, smaller world? Well Luke Casey’s gone and made a really terrific project out of that very idea, but instead of using a boring A4 sheet of paper, he’s utilised ships’ portholes as his frame.

His earlier Ports series , in which he photographed the lives of people who spend their working life at ports around the world, paints an almost lonely picture of the atmosphere in such an ever-changing, bustling place. Similarly, p o r t h o l e s gives you a wistful feeling reminiscent of looking out of an aeroplane window – that unmistakable sense of being in transit, and a tad dislocated.
