Graphic Design: Marc&Anna create a malleable identity for a malleable venue

Date

For their latest project, design duo Marc&Anna have been working on a newly opened creative space in south-east London which will be used for workshops, talks, exhibitions and supper clubs and the like. Creating an identity which is malleable enough to sort all the varying needs of such a venue on a tight budget is no mean feat, but Marc&Anna have done a marvellous job.

They’ve designed a simple primary logo based on the venue’s name to which a whole series of different kinds of fives and sevens can be added to denote a whole range of different uses (painterly, torn out of notebooks, etc.), and in doing so, they’ve succeeded in making a brand which bends to fit flyers, posters, a website and windows.

As Marc explained to us: “The logo mark is made up from GT Walsheim (from the Swiss foundry), and a single weight is used for all copy. Aubergine was chosen as the main colour, because it’s richer and warmer than black, and compliments a huge number of colours. A supporting palette of rich and bright tones was developed to be used across the various printed and digital media.”
