Marcel Kronenburg: Carpets for Buildings

Of all the printing processes to be hacked, the carpet printer is surely the most random. But consider – a piece of software that dictates that no carpet tile should be the same as the next and the term “crazy-paving” is left wanting. Cue artist Marcel Kronenburg and software engineer Marten Teitsma whose collaborative realisation of glitch iteration lends an extraordinary effect to spatial environments – Unrepeatable and Wall through Wall are design strategies for entire floors of buildings so that each space is unique and yet the room, and the people inside of it, are interpretively part of a greater whole.
