Matthew Swan

Date
10 January 2011

Matthew Swan studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art. His work plays on the visuals of heavily costumed live-action Japanese serials, pulp cartoons and consumerism. The intricate detailing of his drawings are often spontaneous and surreal in nature, and as Swan often draws upon the subconscious, his works seem manic and disordered at first glance, but behind this unsettled surface lies something quite beautiful and sensitive.
