Michel Gondry takes us on a tour of his favourite Parisian video store

Date
6 March 2013

As soon as we see the name Michel Gondry anywhere on the internet we all start chanting “we lo-o-o-ve youu” and doing sha-la-la’s like the animals about 2:03 minutes into this video. So you can imagine how delighted we were to find out that Tiffany Limos had made a short film for Nowness following Michel into his local, and most treasured video store in Paris, La Butte Video Club.

While he ambles around the shelves of DVDs — it’s worth saying here that things generally in Paris are much better than here, this ‘aint no Blockbuster — he muses on how wonderful it is to walk out of your house and into a small but perfectly formed shop where the owner knows exactly what he’s talking about. So true.
