Museum der Dinge (Museum of Things)

Date
21 April 2011

This small museum in Berlin has a surprisingly large and eclectic collection of everyday objects including the mundane, kitsch, and functional products. These are displayed in a series of cabinets and coincide with temporary exhibitions on Bauhaus and Werkbund designers, or shows titled Evil things. An encyclopedia of bad taste. The aim is to archive and document modern everyday life through the ‘things’ we buy and use on a daily basis. The website presents an object from the collection in its ‘Thing of the month’ offering further insight into the objects and stories around them, plus there’s also an opportunity to take home some objects on loan for a year.
