Myeongbeom Kim

Date

Myeongbeom Kim plays with visual associations and surreal connotations of many an object, altering them to present new meaning to sometimes baffling but always brilliant effect. For example, a three-legged chair is supported by balloons (a favourite sculptural tool for Kim), keeling over after a duration while an axe is whittled from a young tree left mid-chop in a stump. Invariably exhibition-based pieces but occasionally a man hangs out in a boat with an oak tree for a mast. Illogical loveliness.
