Nabil Sabio Azadi's charming travel guide comes with a real personal touch

As ideas for books go, we’re setting a high standard for 2013 in terms of kindness thanks to this sweet little tome from Nabil Sabio Azadi. The Iranian-New Zealander’s first book is a limited-edition hand bound travel guide with a difference in that it’s based on the people who live in certain places rather than the places themselves. And as well as these individuals sharing their stories, they also provide their phone number for anyone passing through that particular region to get in touch should they want and/or need to. The subjects range from metalworkers to musicians and political analysts to farmers but the common thread is this extraordinarily kind and trusting leap of faith they have agreed to.

For You The Traveller a fine looking thing too, with some charming illustrations supplementing the entries which include locations as diverse as Tehran, London and Lemnos.
