Photography: Nigel Shafran's naturalistic shots of a shopping spree on Avenue Montaigne

Date
7 April 2014

Nigel Shafran’s approach to photography is utterly unlike anything else I’ve ever seen. Taking often mundane aspects of every day life, Nigel captures them in a way that they’ve never been seen before, turning what we know about photography on its head and presenting something brilliantly enthralling.

For the April issue of British Vogue, for example, Nigel shot a shopping spree on one of the world’s most exclusive streets: Paris’ Avenue Montaigne. He captures his model trying on shoes, worshipping at shop windows from beneath a Chanel umbrella and longingly gazing at price tags. Perhaps most importantly though he succeeds in preserving a naturalistic air that all too often falls prey to the lure of post-production, setting his photographs far apart from the crowd.
