Lundgren Lindqvist create a striking identity for Nordic Energy Research

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Swedish designers Lundgren Lindqvist know a thing or two about designing an identity. Tasked with creating fresh branding for the somewhat severe-sounding Nordic Energy Research (they shorten it to NER for good measure) the studio came up with a pretty nifty new vernacular with which the firm could identify itself.

As a regular publisher of printed and online reports it was imperative the NER be able to produce consistently engaging visual material. With that in mind Lundgren Lindqist created a circle grid from which numerous pixellated illustrations could be assembled to ensure that the company’s output maintained its distinct identity while simultaneously providing engaging visual cues.

Coupled with some charming bespoke icons and the daring use of Otl Aicher’s unusual Rotis Sans, this is one impressive new identity from a studio that seem to intuitively understand the importance of a strong brand.
