Illustration: Olimpia Zagnoli is taking her fabulous illustration to the streets

Well now, would you just look who had slipped right by us, only for us to grab her by the scruff and thrust her back into the spotlight? The brilliantly named Olimpia Zagnoli merits more than a moment in it, too; her client-list is full of big names, from Google, Taschen, the New York Times and the New Yorker, and the proof of her talent is, as they say, in the portfolio (they do say that, right?)

Olimpia’s style treads the same lines as a favourite of ours, Malika Favre; vibrant blocks of colour, witty but subtle observations about those around her and simple but very effective execution through silhouettes and bold shapes. In her recent project Affiche, Olimpia made a series of super funny posters and exhibited them by pasting them up all around the city of Cremona in Italy, providing a healthy dose of eye candy for passers-by, all of which is now documented in a brilliant book going by the same name. I wouldn’t half mind bumping into her work at the end of my road every day – perhaps Olimpia should push to make this project worldwide.
