Olivier Kugler’s illustrations are almost too dense and too incredible to describe. He first caught our eye with a journey from the Shetlands to Cuba, and in the years since he’s furthered his practice of observational drawings which entreat a closer look. These latest works are multi-faceted scenes which interweave cartoon, storytelling, cartography and current events to create engaging, episodic narratives. Kugler’s astonishing drawings represent life as it is – overloaded, incidental, full of half-finished thoughts and superfluous detail.
