Photography: Billy Bull and Joel Antoine Wilkinson go rogue in museums
Every single day of our lives we abide by a set of unspoken rules that maintain society’s status quo and allow us to get on with things in a state of relative order. But what if one day the limits of these rules were tested, pushed to their limits and even broken; how would it change the way we live our lives? Probably not very much actually, but Billy Bull and Joel Antoine-Wilkinson wanted to test the idea out anyway.
Out Of Bounds is a photographic project that sees the pair riding on museum exhibitions, getting close enough to lick priceless works of Renaissance art and stood at the feet of the fossilised skeletons of giant beasts. Why? Why the heck not – the results are hilarious. These guys don’t play by your rules, but if you’re daring enough to join them they’re willing to let you not play by the rules either, inviting people to fly in the face of convention and submit photos of themselves engaged in flagrant rule-breaking. I’m hitting the V&A this afternoon (I’m not, we can’t condone this sort of reckless behaviour) who’s with me?
