People Corporation was a London based fashion brand designed by Roland Mouret in the 1990s before he found fame with his label. I have always harboured a minor obsession with this little-known now defunct label as it seemed to epitomise an era in the London fashion scene between around 1995 to 1997, typified by a kind of punk, trash, androgynous hybrid of street attitude and styling; and often presented on early incarnations of my fave model Karen Elson. One of the first People Corporation shows was held at the Freedom Bar on Wardour Street which itself was started by Roland Mouret as a haven for the waifs and strays of Soho club scene in the mid nineties.
