Illustration: Peter Judson's work is an exercise in patience and perfectionism

Date

As I imagine was the case for annoying children countrywide, my parents occupied me on many a long car journey and a rainy weekend with geometric colouring books, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same was true for Peter Judson.

Peter graduated from Kingston university last year with a degree in illustration, and has since been making plenty of work, but we were most interested in his latest project which is all about perfectly executed shapes in primary red, yellow and blue. Part colouring book, part that snake game you used to get on really old Nokia phones, the results are repetitive and yet strangely transfixing, calling for a determined furrowing of the brows as you try to understand what they are. As if a full collection of these repetitive forms wasn’t enough, he has also created a typeface from the LEGO brick-like compositions. His attention to detail is something to be admired, isn’t it? We predict great things.
