Photography: Superbly talented Go Itami beckons us into his own deliciously beautiful Japan

Date
19 July 2013

When Go Itami got in touch to update us with some new work my tongue fell out of my mouth like a puppy leaning out the window on the M4. There is something absolutely magical about each and every one of his photographs. How can he make a cityscape seem utterly silent? How can he play with light in such a way that it’s almost as if he’s a puppeteer up in the clouds? I have no clue but, he does it.

This new series explores more of the same, in a good way. Japan at it’s most beautiful, most haunting, and most palpable. From his scenes of deserted streets and buildings to the hairy, intertwined legs, there’s something erotic about almost everything he chooses to put his lens to. Go is hands down one of my all time favourites, and he’s nowhere near to the point of slowing down.

Go Itami’s new book Study is coming out soon, published by Rondade and designed by The Simple Society
