Photography: Meet fantastic documentary photographer and storyteller, Jørn Tomter

Date
2 August 2013

I’m going to put my hands up and say that I’m one of those people that buys the Sunday papers, tears off the plastic, retrieves the supplements and chucks the rest away. There I SAID it. But supplements are so, so brilliant – the documentary photography in them is unparalleled, whole stories told in just one image. There’s a lot of staple documentary photographers out there, but at the moment it’s really Jørn Tomter who’s taking the biscuit. From Sir Paul Smith, to Marina Abramovic, to an old couple in Norway, to the Wimbledon ball boys and girls, to Damien Hirst getting his nipple out – you’re unlikely to see a more interesting and diverse portfolio than Jørn’s. Read the backstory behind the Damien Hirst nipple thing here. Super interesting.
