Photography: Osamu Yokonami's creepy pictures of lost schoolgirls are amazing!

Good photographs should tell stories, and these shots look like stills from a ten-part Japanese art-house horror film epic. Osamu Yokonami has taken large groups of girls out into the wilderness and photographed them in groups, in uniform, exploring the landscape. Whether they’re standing on windy cliff-faces, linking like floating snowflakes in shallow ponds, or climbing bobble-hatted up snowy hills, this girl gang have got that impulsive vibe that suggests they have perhaps been separated from a school trip and are now embarking on their own little adventure. Osamu Yokonami’s other photo series are equally delightful, particularly the shots of people doing seemingly endless forward rolls.
