Rami Niemi takes on the creative industry in ace illustrations for the ADC Annual

Date

Illustrator Rami Niemi once gave me a hug at a private view in Amsterdam and I don’t mind telling you it’s one of the top five experiences I’ve ever had in an art gallery. We were sharing a moment of mutual appreciation following on from our post on the young Finn last year and ever since we first laid eyes on his work we’ve been fully paid up members of the Rami fan club.

We’re not alone – his combination of a friendly, almost childlike style and fiendish sense of naughtiness has won him an army of admirers and a host of commissions, all of which he smashes out the park. But even by his own high standards this latest series for the Art Directors Club 2013 Annual is an absolute belter as Rami turns his gaze on the creative industry. His witty, communicative, occasionally caustic but consistently great-looking illustrations tie DDB New York’s publication together and prove once again that Rami is much more than a terrific hug-giver.
