Random Studio jazzes up Fornasetti's homepage, to wonderful results

I don’t know what it says about our relationship with technology that fancy websites are still providing a source of joy so long after the internet was invented, but there’s nothing like a bit of magical and unexpected web trickery to wake you up from a dull afternoon slumber. Case in point is eccentric Italian design house Fornasetti’s website, which has just been given a good jazzing up from Amsterdam-based Random Studio.

“The homepage was considered as a true entrance,” Random explains of the redesign, which introduces interactive elements which move, sway and roll across the screen with your mouse in a pleasant undulating effect. “Everything, from concept and design to animation and programming of the homepage, started from selecting three of Fornasetti’s key tools: the compass, the rule and the pen.” Random Studio continues. “A modern interpretation of Fornasetti’s playful logic, Random’s intervention seduces visitors to interact with each of the three illustrations.” They’re not wrong; you’ll be lucky to click away within ten minutes of discovering the sweet playful functions. I had no idea stationery could be so enchanting.
