Pop culture and pattern collide in Reilly’s dazzling digital collages

Date

Scottish-born illustrator and digital artist Reilly has carved out a niche for himself with his dazzling collages. Mixing pop culture, pattern and art historical references, the RCA graduate’s work is a melting pot of hand-drawn and rendered elements that see past and present clash. Garish colours, cartoons and found imagery are all repurposed to wonderful, pixelated effect, and looking through his Instagram feed – where he exhibits a deluge of work – is a somewhat dizzying experience. Most recently he was one of 28 artists chosen by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele to contribute to Gucci’s new Instagram campaign #GucciGram, which sees Reilly’s work alongside that of Kalen Holloman and Ed Fornieles.
