This extraordinary claymation – following a man’s journey into the afterlife – was shown as the climax for the fascinating We Don’t Speak Mexican Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration at The Book Club in east London last night. Funny and moving, it has an operatic quality that is rendered with amazing technical skill and is well worth ten minutes of your time. The evening struck the perfect balance between being playful and educational, and I am proud to say it finally extended my knowledge of Mexican culture beyond burritos, opening my eyes to the rituals that surround this quintessentially Mexican custom.
