Residenz Theater's 2013-14 season programme takes a dark, graphic turn

The last time Martin Fengel sent through one of his programmes for Munich’s Residenz Theater we featured it in Things. It was a beautiful piece of print design that did a terrific job of providing narrative and context to their 2011-2012 season. For their 2013-2014 programme however, Martin and his team have gone above and beyond the standard remit of a theatrical programme and produced an object that’s truly special.

Alongside the predictably excellent design is a magnificent piece of richly illustrated narrative compiled (undoubtedly over a few months) by Berlin-based illustrator Jan Feindt. Jan’s dark, detailed illustrations weave together with quotes from the likes of William Shakespeare and Kurt Schwitters to form Unruhige Träume (Restless Dreams) a graphic novella of a sinister, erotic nature.

Is this the best theatre programme we’ve ever seen? Almost certainly. Yes.
