Sam Gellman: Mass Games

Date
7 October 2011

Here’s something we couldn’t resist – the elusive Mass Games held in North Korea, a thing of perfectly choreographed order and baffling complexity. They are a sum of synchronised parts where no one person performs above the group, resulting in these spectacular displays of discipline at an incredible scale (up to 10,000 performers). Curiosity having got the better of him, photographer Sam Gellman travelled to North Korea and produced these fascinating documents of the performances, more of which can be seen on his flickr.
