Let Sam Vanallemeersch blow your mind again with his enormous body of exquisite illustration

Date

Sometimes a person is born with so much talent bestowed upon them that their very existence makes you struggle to breathe. Every time I look at Sam Vanallemeersch’s illustration I feel as if all the air has been sucked out of the room and my stomach falls away, provoked by the knowledge that I’ll probably never be able to come close, in anything, to the level of excellence he manifests in each drawing.

To add insult to injury Sam’s actually got two honed styles of illustration under his belt; the intoxicating scribbled layers that are on show here, and a polished, vector style that’s evocative of the very best of Russian Constructivism mixed with Flemish ligne claire (we’ll remind you of that another time). As much as his excellence depresses me by highlighting my own shortcomings I can’t help but adore Sam’s work, as you can probably tell from this gushing ramble. Great stuff!
