From Easy Rider to Dumb and Dumber, everyone loves a road movie, but Santiago Sierra’s addition to the genre features an unlikely star. The artist created three half-tonne NO signs which travelled the globe, taking in Italy, Germany, the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Canada, Canada and the USA, from New York to Miami. Santiago wanted a sculpture that could communicate a cross-cultural message, but which was flexible enough to change its meaning depending on where it was. The film first aired in February but there’s something compelling about these photographs, as the concept rolls from one country to the next.
