Snask designs an elegant guide to creating your own art collection

The latest project to come from Swedish studio Snask is this art book, Häng konsten lågt, which aims to inspire readers to start their own art collection whatever the budget or knowledge on the subject. Written by Karolina Modig, the book “takes you on her own personal ride of buying art for the first time and interviews prominent people in the art world to demystify art and make it available,” says Snask.

More subdued than their previous projects but no less striking, the book’s cover gleams with foil blocked brush strokes giving it a subtly luxurious feel against the parcel paper background. “When designing the book we wanted to keep the aesthetics of an art book, but add an editorial touch to the design to try and make it appeal to a wider audience,” the studio explains. In among the pastel backdrops and deluge of photographs quietly captioned, there are in-depth interviews and digestible blocks of text, all interspersed with large-print pull quotes. The book is an ambitious concept, but Snask communicates Karolina’s ideas in an elegant yet clear way that allows readers to seriously consider the idea of being an art collector.
