Stefan Kanchev

Date
7 December 2011

If you’re as ignorant of eastern European graphic design as we seem to be then you’ll be mightily surprised and impressed by the portfolio of Stefan Kanchev, Bulgaria’s answer to Francesco Saroglia. The son of an iconographer, Kanchev devoted his life to applied graphic art, creating striking posters, stamps, artwork and advertising for the Bulgarian state. His most accomplished works however are logos for various industrial organizations that cleverly communicate the nature of the business while simultaneously acting as a bold brand identity. Truly brilliant design from a man who unquestionably mastered his art.
