There are excellent motives behind Steven Brahm’s photography. Part 1 of The Survival Project (an awarding-winning series no less) documents the ingenuity of humans after some unspecified apocalyptic occurrence which will reduce us to our wits. Evasion Studies (also in Survival) are dramatic running-for-your-life portraits in ominously everyday places. In the spirit of things, I decided not to verify whether his project Bliss Witness, portraits of people with an expression on their face as if they’ve just seen the most beautiful thing in the world, was inspired by that double-rainbow video. It’s better not knowing. Oh, and Steven is guest posting all this week!
