Sunbrella and Situ Studio: reOrder

Date
11 January 2012

In a moment where commercial innovation met high art, Sunbrella (leaders in the field of performance fabrics) teamed up with New York-based Situ Studio to create reOrder, an “architecture environment” within the great hall of the Brooklyn Museum. A playful take on corinthian columns, these UFO like strucutres were built from Sunbrella’s patented material, developed as a more effective and sustainable alternative to ordinary canvas parasols. A beautiful effort that upends the notion that functional design can’t move you in the core of your aesthetic heart. The project won Situ Studio the Interior Design’s best installation award for 2011.
