Misfits and The Clash get the Swiss design treatment thanks to Mike Joyce

The design community’s obsession with the International Typographic Style just won’t quit. It’s already defined an entire generation of visual communication and it continues to be a recurrent theme in the work of numerous practitioners today. We’ve seen any number of subjects reimagined in the vernacular of the Swiss greats, from classic computer games to the 52 US state mascots.

But the newest, and most incongruous, pairing comes in the form of Swissted by Mike Joyce, a new book of punk and hardcore gig posters paired back into crisp geometric arrangements, all set in lowercase Berthold Akzidenz-Grotesk. As Mike is keen to remind us, “Every single one of these shows actually happened,” but we guarantee Hüsker Du never had such a clean looking poster in real life.
