Tamar Frank: A thin line between space and matter

These delicate phosphorescent threads have been pulled taut into sweeping parabolic curves, creating filigree “walls” that enclose the gallery space. The construction is transformed in the dark – the phosphorescent strands slowly radiate the energy they absorbed when the lights were on (isn’t science amazing?). This arresting glow-in-the-dark sculpture is the work of Dutch artist Tamar Frank. Sculpting and painting with light, her installations are often site-specific, drawing on particular atmospheres or the architecture of spaces.
