Photographs of explosions have a strange visual power – the frozen moment possessing a terrible beauty that can conflict a viewer, especially if the plumes are in fact the wake of some disaster. Tess Hurrell’s fascination with these iconic images compelled her to reconstruct (in the same uncanny and timeless way) models of these explosions into a striking series of photographs called Chaology – which means the study of chaos theory.
