The 2011 London Design Festival

Date
17 September 2011

“It’s here and I like it,” as Will Smith memorably sang/rapped in turn of the millennium anthem Will 2k, and what better way to introduce our coverage of the 2011 London Design Festival. Since it launched in 2003, the LDF has gone from strength to strength and this year promises to be the biggest and best EVER, with a dazzling array of top design talent taking over the capital.

The festival kicked off this morning and from now until next Sunday It’s Nice That will be given over to documenting and exploring this remarkable event. We will bring you the biggest hits, the brightest new stars and the lowdown on the best shows which are getting tongues-wagging among design aficionados who will descend on London in their droves during the coming week and a bit.

For the first time this year we have produced a limited run free publication to complement the more established LDF guides, adding our voice to the coverage of London’s annual design showcase. But don’t worry if you’re not able to get your well-manicured little hands on one – the best of the material will appear on the site during the week, including interviews with some HUMUNGOUS hitters – we’re talking Sir James Dyson, Wayne Hemingway, Tom Dixon and Sir John Sorrell.

We are also sending our team out to as many events as possible, pounding the streets for your pleasure to make sure you get a great flavour of all that is going on, and , well, hell, a little more besides.

We’ll also be tweeting and using our Facebook to share not just the best of our coverage but to flag up any of the great things dedicated to all things design sure to be swamping blogs and art sites alike over the coming nine days.

If you are planning to check out some of the events then we hope we can point you in the right sort of direction, and if you’re miles away we hope we can bring you the next best thing to being here.
