Earwax, animal posters, magazines and a Frieze family guide looking fancy, yup things is here!

Date
27 October 2012

It’s been 10 weeks, 70 days, and 1,680 hours since me and Things first laid eyes upon each other. Champagne picnics in the park, Marvin Gaye by the open fire… It has been a whirlwind. But as they say, all good things must come to an end and as I leave Things behind as she continues to wow you all each and every week on the day we must part, she’s looking better than ever before! Earwax, animal posters magazine galore and Frieze family guides looking fancy, sit back and prepare to be wowed…

What can be better than a brown paper bag? A brown paper bag full of monster food supplies? Hmmm sounds good but a brown paper bag full of monster food supplies AND with a charitable conscience… ooh that sounds really really good! Full of “impacted earwax” (or for the more squeamish, fudge), “escalating panic”( humbugs) and “salt made from tears of sorrow” (salt), when it comes to food the Hoxton Street Monster Supplies are a creative lot. With all proceeds going to support writing workshops for 8 – 18 year olds in east London, they are lovely lovely people too!

Moo Moo Woof Woof: Laura Carlin and Chie Miyazaki

Anything entitled Moo Moo Woof Woof was always going to get us excited so when the lovely Laura Carlin and Chie Miyazaki sent us through their exhibition poster to (you’ve guessed it ) their show Moo Moo Woof Woof we were tempted to run around in excited circles. Full of sketches of pesky looking critters (the giraffe is a personal favourite) the poster has got us all excited about their upcoming exhibition which is being held for only two days over the weekend of November 17 and 18. Featuring a ceramic bonanza of animals from the past present and future, you best get yourselves down there.

Used Magazine: Issue 4

As you may have already gathered we are huge huge suckers for beautifully designed magazines so when the latest spectacular issue of Used Magazine sailed through our door with its effortless elegance and grace we all went a bit weak at the knees. Beautifully designed inside and out the fashion magazine will make you giddy with all its niceness, but don’t be fooled, it’s not all about picture spreads and good looking people (although it has to be said that they do this very well), with a selection of wonderfully thought-out articles including one on laughter, Used magazine is most definitely one for the coffee table.

So the Frieze art fair may well have been and gone for another year but with these guides – as designed by the talented and very lovely illustrator Holly Wales – looking as fantastic as ever we could’t help but show them off! Coming packaged in a lovely brown envelope with thick colourful writing (mmmmm felt tips) Holly’s illustrations are of the fun and brightly coloured variety and really bring this pamphlet to life.

Woooo comics! We love comics so when Off Life sent us through the debut issue of their comic magazine a little smile spread across all of our faces. Compiling comic art from the best indie talent about, the magazine is bursting in illustrative goodness and witty words. Nicely leaving them in bars, coffee houses, shops and the odd gallery for each and everyone of you to pick up free of charge, what’s not to love?
